On November 13, Bitauto editors captured a set of pictures of a suspected SAIC Audi A5L camouflaged real car during a visit to the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show. The new car will be officially released at the Guangzhou Auto Show. The overall design remains highly consistent with the overseas version, adopting a frameless door sedan hatchback shape.
The styling of the new car was personally designed by German designer Jakob Hirzel, and it maintains the Sportback coupe styling consistent with global models. From the front, the new car is equipped with a large front grille and a honeycomb mesh grille, and large ventilation and heat dissipation openings are used on both sides of the front enclosure. The headlight set adopts a long and narrow design, and is equipped with a dot matrix LED matrix daytime running light set inside, which can show different lighting methods according to different modes.
Looking from the side, the new car is also consistent with the overseas version, adopting a frameless door sedan hatchback shape. In addition, in order to adapt to the needs of the domestic market, the wheelbase of the SAIC Audi A5L will also be lengthened to provide a more spacious seating space.
At the rear, the new car also follows the overseas version. It is expected to use a through-design taillight set, which uses a distinctive programmable light source inside, which is highly recognizable when lit. The rear enclosure of the new car also adopts a more layered design. The black rear diffuser decorative panel is matched with a two-outlet exhaust layout on both sides, making the vehicle more sporty.
In terms of interior, it is reported that the SAIC Audi A5L is also highly consistent with the overseas version. The cockpit area uses ultra-thin OLED technology for the main driver instrument display and MMI's curved Dalian screen. In addition, all SAIC Audi A5L series are equipped with a passenger screen as standard, which is a supplement to the digital experience of passengers in the passenger compartment and is cleverly integrated into the dashboard. It is worth mentioning that the new car will also be equipped with Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving assistance system.
In terms of power, the new car is built on the Volkswagen Group's latest high-end longitudinal fuel vehicle vehicle architecture PPC platform. Its electrification system and intelligent system have been significantly upgraded compared to the MLB Evo platform of the previous generation model. The new car is equipped with the fifth-generation EA888 2.0T engine, which will also be matched with a 48V light-hybrid system with P3 configuration. It is divided into low, middle and high three-speed power adjustment, which are 110 kilowatts, 150 kilowatts and 200 kilowatts respectively.
